Resume
(Resumes are at the bottom of the page, after the introduction)

Why should you hire me?

I’m glad you asked.

I’m very good at creating solutions which meet the needs of problems.  I’ve done everything from planning and implementing software development projects to creating a structured IT department in an organization which had absolutely no process for dealing with technological issues.  I’ve also helped build a new online magazine into a publication which is read by over half a million people in more than 140 countries.

My written works are recognized in the community and my coded works are of a respectable quality.  In addition, I am able to gain knowledge in a problem domain with a reasonable degree of ease and, if I do not currently know an answer, I tend to be able to find it pretty quickly.

I have no problem being a mentor to those less experienced than myself.  In fact, I see it as a part of my job no matter what else that job entails.  If I am approached by someone who wants to learn, I will do my best to teach them (or point them in the right direction if that is more beneficial to the person).  However, I also like working with those more experienced than myself because it gives me incentive to push myself, learn more, and become better at what I do.

I work well as part of a team.  In fact, I tend to end up being a calming and mediating force in whatever group I am made a part of.  While I enjoy and prefer working as part of a group, I am also quite adept at working on my own.

Having grown up around business owners and managers as well as having been in charge in a variety of situations, I have an understanding of business needs and practices as well as when they get in the way and need to be changed.  Add to this the facts that I quickly gain a firm grasp of the technical aspects of what I need to do, and that I can convey them in plain English for the less technically inclined.

While I understand that all projects can and sometimes do require some overtime, if you are looking for someone who will consistently work 70-80 hours/week, don’t bother considering me.  I believe in a work-life balance and anyone who employs me should as well.  I may not be the cheapest solution, but I am well worth the cost.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
